The Good Samaritan Society and Sanford Health, a nonprofit acute care-based health system,  recently voted to merge. The merger will create a $6 billion entity with 47,000 employees and combine Sanford’s health care and research capacity with Good Samaritan’s national network of nursing homes and senior care centers.  The deal now awaits regulatory approval.  When it’s finalized, Good Samaritan will keep part of its name, operating under the Sanford umbrella as The Good Samaritan Society of Sanford Health.

 

 

 

Over the past few months, the Good Samaritan Society and Cheyenne County Commissioners have been evaluating options for the future of providing care and services for seniors in the St. Francis, Kansas area.  As a result of those discussions, the Cheyenne County is transferring operations of the Good

Samaritan Society – Cheyenne County to Kansas Senior Living effective November 1. Kansas Senior Living is associated with SunPorch is a nonprofit organization led by John Grace.

Earlier this summer Good Samaritan Society transferred ownership of their Minneapolis, Kansas campus to Plainview Healthcare Partners, an out-of-state for-profit company.

She received her bachelor’s degree from Bard College at Simon’s Rock in Great Barrington, MA, and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law. Over the years, Rachel has served in many volunteer roles in her community and in the state of Kansas to support senior needs, aging services education, and community mental health services. She is also a member of the Board of Governors for the Kansas Health Care Stabilization Fund.
