Thank you to everyone who participated in the Policy Town Hall/World Café at the fall conference in Lenexa last week. The event was facilitated by our VP of Government Affairs and Rachel Monger and Barbara Gay, LeadingAge national’s VP of Advocacy Communications.

Participants talked together and provided input on the following questions:

  • If you were king or queen for a day, what regulatory or legislative change would you make?
  • What senior housing needs do you see in your community? If you provide assisted living care, what are the biggest issues you are facing?
  • If you could change one thing about Medicaid, what would it be? (Aside from Medicaid eligibility processing problems). If you could change one thing about Medicare, what would it be?
  • If we look 10 years into the future, and LeadingAge had solved all of our workforce problems, what would they have done to get there?
  • Is there  a specific nursing home regulation(s) you would get rid of? What policy concerns or barriers have come up as you implement phases 2 & 3 of the new RoPs?

Feedback recorded at the Town Hall/World Café will be provided to both state and national boards as they consider their policy advocacy agendas for 2020. If you were not in attendance at the Town Hall/World Cafe, but would like to provide your perspective on any or all of the above questions, please email your thoughts to Rachel.
