CMS has signed agreements with 1,299 entities to participate in the Bundled Payments for Care Improvement-Advanced (BPCI-A) Model. The participating entities will receive bundled payments for certain episodes of care as an alternative to fee-for-service payments that pay for only the volume of care delivered. View the CMS Announcement here.

What does that mean for LeadingAge Kansas SNF members? It means that while you would be paid the same under Medicare fee-for-service rates, the participating entities will be choosy about where they send their patients to for Skilled Nursing under one of these episodes. They will be looking at 5 Star Ratings and Quality Measures, as well as hospital readmission rates.

LeadingAge National has a great article on this for our members. Read this article.

The article includes a spreadsheet that lists the entities that have signed agreements to participate in this model. We have cut it down for you to only KS and MO entities.
