The following individuals were elected to serve on the LeadingAge Kansas Board at the membership meeting on May 8, 2019 in Wichita:

  • 1st Term – Renee Porter has been in the aging services field for twelve years, serving since 2014 as Administrator at Dooley Center, a LCS (Life Care Services)-managed nursing home for Benedictine Sisters at Mount Saint Scholastica, and their direct relatives. Renee is a peer-buddy for LSC Administrators. Renee Is a champion for high quality, person centered care and active participant in the PEAK Program. She has been a trainer for PEAK on person-centered are and staff empowerment. She is a Fellow in the current class of the LeadingAge Kansas Center for Leadership. Renee has a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science from the University of Kansas and is a licensed Adult Care Home Administrator. She is known for her energy, creativity, kindness and commitment to service. She has a busy family life and gives much of her free time to 4-H and her children’s sports activities.
  • 1st Term – Treva Greaser has over 30 years of experience as an RN in hospital, home health, worker’s compensation care coordination, legal nurse consulting and Life Plan Community leadership. She joined the team at Schowalter Villa in 2008 as the VP of Health Services. In 2012 she was named Executive Director. Much of Treva’s focus has been on the continued journey of person centered care, meaningful life, home environment and staff empowerment; selecting the right people for the right job; and implementing and strengthening several programs including Comfort Matters, an accredited dementia care model, and a post-acute/short stay rehab neighborhood. Treva has a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Bethel College and is a licensed Adult Care Home Administrator. Treva and her husband of 30+ years enjoy traveling together, spending time at Beaver Lake, many styles of music and reading. She loves her labradoodle Zoey, who works as the therapy dog at the Villa.
  • 2nd Term – Jamie Frazier has served on the Board since 2016. He is the CEO of the largest Life Plan Community in Kansas, which includes an onsite hospital clinic and child development center and separate HUD 202 apartment and cottage complex. Jamie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Religion from Phillips University. Jamie says, “Our board represents a provider network of professionals who share opinions and advice about solutions to problems we all face. We enjoy working with our forward-looking LeadingAge Kansas professional staff to support our membership in areas of advocacy, strategy, education and leadership. And it’s a fun bunch of folks to spend time with!”
  • Continuing as Chair – Crystal Packard has served on the Board since 2012. She has broad experience in aging services and long-term care, including nursing home, assisted living, rural health clinic and housing settings. She is committed to person-centered care and has been instrumental in helping other Kansas nursing homes take up the cause of person-centered care. Crystal has a passion for small, rural long-term care. She began work with the Good Samaritan Society in late 2016. She is a 2012 graduate of the LeadingAge Kansas Center for Leadership. She has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Saint Louis University and is a licensed Adult Care Home Administrator. Crystal says, “It has been a privilege to serve on a board, and now in the Chair role. We have a great board and staff, who strive to make the lives of those we serve better.”

Continuing as Chair Elect – Ed Strahm has served on the board since 2013. He is a member of the Finance and Audit Committee. He is the current Board Chair of EBI, the Association’s Health Plan. Ed brings a unique perspective and blend of experiences to his service on the Board. Before assuming his start at Apostolic Christian Home, he farmed and then served in a number of accounting and computer systems administration positions in the business sector. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Kansas State University and is a licensed Adult Care Home Administrator. Ed says, “Giving of your time and talents to serve on the board is a great way to experience first-hand how the LeadingAge Kansas board and staff work together selflessly for the ultimate goal of serving those who once served us.”

In other board news, the full board elected Jason Stucky and Joe Ewert to additional one-year terms as Treasurer and Secretary, respectively. Rhoda Parks, Ed Strahm and Jason Stucky were appointed to the Finance and Audit Committee. Nate Glendening, Courtney Wolfe and Chris Osborn were reappointed for another one-year term on the Governance Committee.

Rachel Monger, JD, LACHA is President/CEO. Rachel joined LeadingAge Kansas in 2011 as the Director of Government Affairs and has been a powerful voice for our membership ever since. Rachel is a Kansas licensed attorney and adult care home administrator. She received her bachelor’s degree from Bard College at Simon’s Rock in Great Barrington, MA, and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law. Over the years, Rachel has served in many volunteer roles in her community and in the state of Kansas to support senior needs, aging services education, and community mental health services. She is also a member of the Board of Governors for the Kansas Health Care Stabilization Fund. As an award-winning trial lawyer, turned award-winning senior care advocate, she has spent nearly two decades passionately supporting quality of care and quality of life for Kansas seniors.
