• SFY 2022 Medicaid Nursing Facility Rates will be published in the June 10, 2021 Kansas Register. Download the rates on June 10th or later. Rates will become effective on July 1, 2021. Rates will be based on the average of cost report years 2017, 2018 and 2019.
NOTE: While the Legislature appropriated, and the Governor signed, a 3% overall increase for the SFY 2022 Medicaid NF budget, this does not mean that every provider will receive a 3% increase since the rates are adjusted based on individual provider costs, whether the individual provider exceeds cost caps, and how the individual provider performed on CMI. (CMI-related note: Nonprofits have, on average a lower CMI than their for profit counterparts. There could be multiple reasons for this such as they truly do care for residents with less acuity, or their MDS Coordinator does not have state-of-the art training and/or expectations are not conveyed to staff which inadvertently down codes on the MDS.)  If you have questions about your rate when it is published on June 10, please contact Georgianna Correll georgianna.correll@ks.gov.  Also, LeadingAge Kansas’s Reimbursement consultants Bob Dick bdick@blandcpa.com or Kailey Riskowski kriskowski@blandcpa.com are available to assist you to better understand your rate.
  • The KDADS team is meeting internally to determine when/how the additional $15 prd Medicaid payment will be distributed. Early word is that the payments may be based on 2020 Medicaid days and may go out in one or two installments. We will share further information as they firm up details.
  • KDADS will be refining/improving the COVID related information on its website, including moving discontinued guidance to a “discontinued archive.”  Timeline for these improvements is under development.
