On April 26, LeadingAge sent a letter to CMS Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure asking for specifics on the Nursing Home Staffing Campaign that was unveiled in the Minimum Staffing Standards for Long-Term Care Facilities and Medicaid Institutional Payment Transparency Reporting Final Rule on April 22. The letter outlines questions about the Campaign’s workforce awareness strategies, its financial incentives for nurses to work in nursing homes, and its research components. In the letter, LeadingAge requested a meeting to discuss the Campaign and partner with CMS on it.

“We hope that this campaign is the first of multiple steps from the Administration that bring significantly more resources to ensure access to nursing home care is not restricted or limited,” LeadingAge president and CEO Katie Smith Sloan says in the letter.
