The Kansas Legislature adjourned last night with no plans to return until January 13, 2025. They managed to pass their omnibus budget which contained funding for preventative oral health benefits as part of the Medicaid state plan as well as our proposed language update for staffing agency registration to include tech platform companies. SB28 has been signed by the Governor which included all our funding requests.
Our policies, including the CCRC oversight, Fire Marshal body cameras, and patient visitation, are included in HB2784 CCR and H Sub SB287 CCR which were passed on the last day of session and have not yet been enrolled for Governor Kelly’s signature. The legislature worked together to pass a newer tax plan after the original two had been vetoed by the Governor with failed overrides. If the Governor decides to veto this tax plan, it is anticipated she will call them back for a special session. Review this handout to see the wrap up of this session.
