FEDERAL NEWS

American Rescue Plan Passes
The American Rescue Plan passed both chambers of Congress and is on the way to the President’s desk for signature. Most of the funding is directed at state and local governments as well as for testing and vaccines; there is extensive relief for individuals and families (the $1400/per person stimulus, tax credits for children and low income payers, money for schools, etc.).  No changes to the Provider Relief Fund ($8.5B for rural, including HCBS); or to housing, workforce, etc. Also funding for grant funding to providers for mental health education and assistance for staff, which reflects the challenges our members have confronted as the pandemic drags on. 10 point FMAP increase for HCBS included.

The Senate Democrats published an estimate of how much money states, counties, cities, towns and other jurisdictions are projected to get under the new COVID relief package. You can see those estimates HERE https://www.democrats.senate.gov/final-state-and-local-allocation-output-030821. Your city is probably in the list.( Note: We need further clarification about what the numbers in the column mean and will b get that to you soon.)

Weekly Webinar is a Must Attend
When? Fridays at 10 AM. Register here.

Here is what members are saying about these webinars:  “The Friday meeting is SO VERY important for those of us that may have missed information that was provided during the week. If I miss a meeting – I make sure to listen to them later.  If I am out of town – I have my office manager send me the email with the link so that I can listen to it at home. I print out the handout and use it for making notes.  I can’t count the times I have pulled out the handout to refer to something I need clarified or to find a link to a resource. Please continue to provide us with a link to information and to our colleagues! Thank you so much for continuing to provide us with information and resources to make our jobs easier. It seems that if you get behind on covid information – you never catch up.  And with the changing of policies and guidelines – it’s very important to be INFORMED!!” –~Sandy Cline, Protection Valley Manor, Protection.
