Here are a couple of comments that current board members offer about serving on the board
“As a member of the board, I appreciate the opportunities to participate in helping Leading Age Kansas establish priorities for advocacy in Kansas.”
“Being on the board has not only stretched me professionally, it has helped understand what goes on behind the scenes and that LeadingAge Kansas has our backs all across Kansas.”
Board members must be employees or board members of LeadingAge Kansas member organizations, or employees or board members of LeadingAge Kansas member multi-site corporate offices. Directors serve three-year terms and may succeed themselves for one additional term. The Board typically meets five times a year. Meetings have been held virtually during the Pandemic, but may become a mix of live and virtual meetings as the Pandemic wanes. Terms begin following election at the membership meeting in the spring.
The Nominating Committee is charged with screening and selecting the slate of Candidates for election at the spring membership meeting in April of 2022, in conjunction with the Spring Conference and Expo. Positions up for election this year include:
- Up to 2 board member vacancies
- Chair (Teresa McComb current chair-elect)
- Chair Elect
The Nominating Committee examines each applicant’s qualifications, skills and attributes, history of participation in the programs of the association, and letter/s of recommendation. In addition, they conduct a telephone interview to get better acquainted and to answer questions about board member responsibilities.
Please feel free to contact Nominating Committee Chair Nate Glendening nglendening@ruraltel.net, Board Chair Ed Strahm estrahm@apostolicsabetha.com or Debra Zehr debra@leadingagekansas.org if you have questions.
