On March 6, the House Committee on Ways and Means will vote on H.R. 7513, the Protecting American Seniors’ Access to Care Act. The bill, cosponsored by Representatives Michelle Fischbach (R-MN) and Greg Pence (R-IN), would prohibit HHS from finalizing, implementing, or enforcing its federal nursing home staffing proposed rule, whose implementation LeadingAge knows to be infeasible. “We urge you to support passage of H.R. 7513 …. Federal action on staffing mandates must be realistic to achieve its intended effect and should be paired with historic workforce investments and fair reimbursement rates,” LeadingAge president and CEO Katie Smith Sloan said in a March 5 letter to Committee members.
