The new long term care facility CMS Requirements of Participation strongly reinforces that providers must conduct inspections of bed frames, mattresses and rails as part of a regular maintenance program. Inspections for bed and bed rail entrapment risk should not be limited to long term care, but also include any setting that uses bed rails, including assisted living, home care and memory care.
