In a recent webinar conducted by LeadignAge Kansas, a consultant stated that if one resident tests positive in a home/community that the entire building has to wear full PPE including face masks and gowns. This is incorrect. According to Bryna Stacey, with KDHE: “For a single case the staff taking care of that resident would wear the full PPE, but not all staff in the building. In outbreak circumstances we sometimes recommend for all direct care staff to wear all PPE but again that is direct resident care staff, not all staff. Any staff that do not have direct patient care can just wear a cloth mask for source control.”
