On April 26, LeadingAge sent a letter to CMS Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure, asking questions and offering to partner on CMS’ stated forthcoming investment of $75 million to increase the number of nurses in nursing homes. On June 10, LeadingAge received a response, noting the comprehensive research CMS is conducting to inform the structure of the campaign.

In their response letter, CMS referred to the Nursing Home Staffing Mandate Fact Sheet and FAQ, both found on CMS’s Nursing Home Resource Center, for more information and details on the awareness campaign as well as the timeline of financial incentives to nurses to work in nursing homes, which CMS says it will begin distributing in 2025. LeadingAge will continue to engage with CMS to gather more detail on these efforts and to offer suggestions for strategies and tools for the forthcoming campaign.
