On June 4, 2024, Senators King (I-ME) and Cramer (R-ND) sent a letter to Secretary McDonough of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (VA) asking the agency to produce a report on the impact of the recently finalized Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) rule on veterans receiving Long Term Support Services (LTSS) inside and outside the VA care system. The Senators previously introduced the VA Report on Proposed CMS Staffing Ratios Act (S. 3841), which would require VA to submit a report to Congress on the effect of the then-proposed minimum staffing ratios rule on access to VA long-term care facilities.  The Senators requested the report by July 25, 2024.
