LeadingAge Kansas Perspectives on First Draft Senate Budget Resolution Text

After reviewing the first draft of the Senate reconciliation budget text, LeadingAge Kansas provided feedback to congressional officials from Kansas on the impacts. We are grateful to our Senate leaders who fought to raise the retroactive eligibility from the House proposed 30 days back to 60 days, but we’d ultimately like to see it restored to its original standard of 90 days.

Since Kansas is a non-expansion state, some of the provisions in the bill that aim to reduce Medicaid spending and matching percentages do not apply. From our analysis, we believe we’ll be able to continue to do business as is for the most part. You can read more on what we shared with offices, including KDHE KanCare data on retroactive eligibility usage.
