LeadingAge will be hosting a call on July 30, 1:00 PM CT, for skilled nursing facility and home health agency members to explain an initiative seeking information from members about key data on prior authorizations and to walk through the spreadsheet for submitting the data. On the call, staff will explain how this data collection initiative is critical to supporting advocacy efforts on the Medicare Advantage (MA) and prior authorization issues members are encountering. This will be an opportunity for members to review the spreadsheet with LeadingAge staff and ask questions about this effort.
Data collection will begin in August and continue through September. Aggregate data will be shared with CMS, the Office of the Inspector General who is also looking into issues of MA organizations prior authorizations in post-acute care at our request. This data will also be of interest to Congressional leaders working on legislation to improve the prior authorization processes to reduce unnecessary burden on providers and better serve beneficiaries.
