Meadowlark Hills hosted a House Warming Party on July 7th for the newly-renovated households in their long-term care living area.

Sloan and Honstead Houses are the two oldest households at Meadowlark – they turned 36-years-old in June! When Meadowlark opened in 1980, the building was organized as a traditional nursing home. Inspired by new culture-change ideals, Meadowlark moved into the Household Model in 2000. In effort to conserve funds and resources, the staff chose to retrofit the current bricks and mortar to the household model and bring the other elements of the movement to life through reconfiguring the flow of everyday life.

Since then, Sloan and Honstead Houses have seen minimal change in appearance. In May 2016, renovations and updates were completed to both houses, including the addition of sunrooms and a revival of the outdoor courtyards. Meadowlark Board members and members of the greater Manhattan community came together at the House Warming Party to celebrate a beautiful update to an already wonderful place to live.
