On Monday the Kansas Board of Nursing presented a proposed regulation change to the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules and Regulations on regulation 60-2-103 which would allow for LPN programs to utilize clinical preceptors in addition to clinical faculty. There will be a public hearing at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 24 in Room 560 of the Landon State Office Building, 900 SW Jackson St, Topeka, KS, to consider adoption of the proposed change. The KSBN annual report for 2021-2022 showed the approved admissions for the LPN program were 1,474 students. Of those, only 1,020 students were admitted to the program and only 708 graduated. The idea behind the regulation change is to increase the number of students entering the field and offering a solution to a shortage of clinical faculty for the program.
