At the completion of this event, the participant will be able to:

  1. Know the top fire safety citations in adult care homes with a view toward lessening their
    prevalence.
  2. Identify key differences between the 2012 LSC and the previous version of the code used in adult
    care homes.
  3. Discuss the importance of maintaining water-based fire sprinkler systems and how sprinkler
    system neglect can keep the systems from operating as they were originally designed and
    approved.
  4. Benefit from a deeper understanding of fire code principles and trends as well as the resources
    available to improve fire safety in adult care homes.
  5. Understand CMS rules and regulations as they relate to Emergency Preparedness, e.g., tracking
    of staff and residents during and after an emergency and development of arrangements with
    other LTCs to receive residents and evacuation plans.
