CMS has added an icon to the CMS Nursing Home Compare that alerts viewer in a jolting manner when a long term care facility/nursing home has received a recent abuse or neglect-related deficiency. Right now six LeadingAge members have been flagged with the Red Hand Icon. While CMS Administrator has communicated that the Icon is meant to provide more transparency for consumers, LeadingAge and LeadingAge Kansas have serious concerns.
