Make plans to participate in raising awareness about Careers in Aging the week of March 3rd-9th. We encourage you to reach out to local schools including high schools, community and technical colleges and universities to help raise awareness about the joys of working in this field. We encourage you to invite them to your organization, take your team to present at their school, host a career or skills fair or something else that makes sense for your organization.
Careers in Aging Week is the perfect opportunity for us to collectively raise our public image and begin to tell the story of working with older adults. For many of us, this is a vocation. It is a calling and we are proud to serve. We want and need to bring more people into our field. LeadingAge Kansas has elevated workforce to a top priority of the association and is working many angles to help with this crisis. This is one activity where members get to be front and center and shine in their communities.
We will be developing another toolkit to help members prepare and launching it in the next couple of weeks. It will include posters, brochures, ideas and more to make it an easier process.
We are also thrilled to say that CIASW originated in Kansas last year and national associations including LeadingAge, AHCA, Argentum and the Administration on Aging are coming together to promote it throughout the country!
