LeadingAge Kansas has been busy meeting with committee chairs in preparation for budget hearings next week. The Government Affairs team submitted and provided oral testimony in support of HB 2548 which would enact patient visitation rights. The House Health and Human Services committee already worked on the bill and included amendments to limit the scope of the bill to just patient visitation rights for those who are terminally ill.

LeadingAge Kansas is in support of the bill as it will not require providers to overlook federal regulations or requirements when it comes to visitation. LeadingAge Kansas is now working with different members to gather written or oral testimony to present to House Social Services Budget and Senate Ways and Means Human Services subcommittee next week for the KDHE and KDADS budget hearings.
