In coordination with LeadingAge and the state partners, LeadingAge Kansas has contracted with Pathway Health, a consulting and education firm, to help nursing home members navigate the Requirements of Participation (RoP) for Phase 1 of the new CMS final rule. We have taken these tools and placed a Kansas regulation filter over them for your convenience. We have done the work for you on policies and procedures and other tools you may find helpful. All you have to do is include specific information about your organization.
Here are the latest updates to the tools:
- RoP Tools: Resident Assessment [Kansas Review Complete – Changes Made]
- Food and Nutrition (§ 483.60(i)(3) [Kansas Review Complete – Changes Made]
- Advance Directive (§483.10(g)(12) [Kansas Review Complete – Changes Made]
- Behavioral Health/Medically Related Social Services (§483.40) [Kansas Review Complete – Changes Made]
- Admissions, Transfers, and Discharge Rights (§ 483.15) [Kansas Review Complete – Changes Made]
Sections that have been reviewed and do not require Kansas specific changes include:
- Pharmacy Services (§483.45) [Kansas Review Complete No Changes Needed]
- Quality of Care and Quality of Life (§ 483.25) [Kansas Review Complete No Changes Needed]
- Resident Rights (§483.10) [Kansas Review Complete No Changes Needed]
- Training Requirements (§483.95) [Kansas Review Complete No Changes Needed]
- Administration (§483.70) [Kansas Review Complete No Changes Needed]
To view all of the tools we have, check out our specially dedicated page to the RoP. You will need a login/password to view.
Planning is already underway for additional resources and templates for the Phase 2 requirements although some of those resources cannot be produced until CMS releases the interpretive guidance in the revised state operations manual this summer. Additionally, the LeadingAge Kansas Spring Conference April 27th and 28th will have a heavy focus on the new RoPs and plans are underway for webinars later this year to support implementation with the major requirements for phase 2.
