Medical and health care words writing typography lettering concept, Medicare

LeadingAge has joined with other Medicare providers to urge Congress to suspend re-imposing the 2% Medicare sequestration cuts scheduled for January 2022. During the pandemic, Congress suspended Medicare sequestration twice, the last time in April, until Dec. 31, 2021. In addition, the fiscal impact of the American Rescue Plan Act triggers another sequestration – PAYGO – cuts that are even higher.  Although the original PAYGO legislation was enacted in the 1990’s, and current authority in 2010, Congress has consistently waived PAYGO and it has almost never gone into effect. The path to addressing both Medicare sequestration and PAYGO is not clear at this point, but the need is great. We are scheduling an advocacy alert later this week and urge you to circulate. More information on both Medicare sequestration and PAYGO can be found here. Bipartisan, bicameral support is essential!
