Recent NHSN Email Re: COVID-19 Vaccination Reporting
NHSN recently sent a blast email to NHSN users advising that COVID-19 Vaccination Data reporting was due for the Quality Reporting Programs and additional action was needed to ensure reporting. We are awaiting confirmation from NHSN, but our understanding is that this email does not apply to SNF QRP reporting. Previously, when NHSN has sent similar emails, we have confirmed that the data reported through the NHSN long-term care facility component by nursing home providers is automatically transferred to the SNF Quality Reporting Program. No additional data input in the Healthcare Personnel Safety component is required, nor is a Monthly Reporting Plan. We have requested NHSN to be more specific in their communications to avoid this confusion and will continue to press this issue.

“Test Soon, Treat Early” Resources
The CDC has developed a flyer to educate people on how important it is to “TEST SOON – TREAT EARLY.” With COVID cases expected to rise in the coming weeks and months, the importance of testing and of early treatment cannot be overstated. Here is the CDC’s new flyer. If there is an available “test to treat” site nearby, this jpg from HHS’s Administration for Strategic Preparedness Response will also be useful.
