AMDA Releases Recommendations for Visitation, Group Activities
Review the recommendations here. Recommendations include a measured, strategic approach to resuming visitation and group activities aligned with many of the recommendations made by CMS in May 2020 and September 2020. Of note, the AMDA guidance takes a decidedly more conservative approach to some aspects. For example, the group recommends starting out with limiting activities to individual units or wings. They also recommend testing of all visitors, and they recommend that the post-acute LTC setting provide visitors with a medical-grade face mask for visitation, rather than allowing cloth masks for visitors and conserving medical-grade masks for staff and ill residents as CMS recommends. The group emphasizes the importance of continued efforts to vaccinate all residents and staff against COVID-19 and other communicable diseases, and encourages the introduction of essential caregivers into visitation policies and procedures to allow visitation beyond compassionate care when visitation is otherwise restricted.
