All Adult Care Homes Must Start Staff Testing by Monday December 14th
Under a new Executive Order signed by Governor Kelly, all licensed adult care homes in Kansas must now conduct surveillance and outbreak testing. Licensed adult care homes include assisted living, homes plus, residential health care facilities, adult day care facilities, ICF-MR, nursing facilities for mental health and nursing homes not participating in Medicaid or Medicare.
The testing requirements for adult care homes mirror the federal testing requirements in nursing homes, and KDHE positivity rate data will determine testing frequency. Free testing is available to adult care homes through the regional labs assigned in the new unified state testing strategy. Unless extended by the federal government, free lab testing from the state will expire December 30, 2020.
The Executive Order goes into effect Monday, December 14, 2020.
Reminder: Free Testing from State Until December 30th
The state of Kansas has released a list of the labs assigned to each region of the state to start providing free testing and support to long term care and other community organizations until December 30tj. Read more information here and locate your regional lab on this list.
