FEDERAL NEWS

Infection Control Incentive Payments FAQ:

Is there a list to check whether we are owed an incentive payment, and for how much?
At this time, HHS has only published information on the number of nursing homes in each state that will receive an incentive payment and the total amount of payments going to those nursing homes in each state. HHS has not yet shared a facility-level list of nursing homes that will receive payment nor the amount of those payments. LeadingAge has requested this information from HHS.  For an educated guess, see if you meet the gateway criteria for payment.

What can we spend the infection control incentive payments on?
The Nursing Home Infection Control Distribution can only be used for the infection control expenses defined in the Terms and Conditions. These include costs associated with administering COVID-19 testing for both staff and residents; reporting COVID-19 test results to local, state, or federal governments; hiring staff to provide patient care or administrative support; incurring expenses to improve infection control, including activities such as implementing infection control “mentorship” programs with subject matter experts, or changes made to physical facilities; and providing additional services to residents, such as technology that permits residents to connect with their families if the families are not able to visit in person.

Long-Term Care Unified Testing Strategy Webinar
Last week Governor Laura Kelly announced that Kansas is working on a SPARK funded COVID-19 unified testing strategy, and that adult care homes are of the highest priority to receive testing supplies. A consulting team led by Marci Nielson is building the program, and the state is working with contractors to increase testing capacity throughout the state. This webinar will be an opportunity to learn how the state’s plan will intersect with long-term care, and to share your voice and provide input to help inform their efforts.
