Description:

As the industry emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic, many senior living organizations find themselves struggling financially, wondering where they should shift their focus to positively improve their operations. Many organizations went into survival mode during the pandemic, which hit less than six months after beginning a new Medicare payment model which did not allow time for providers to fine tune their PDPM processes. This session will refresh for providers the Patient Driven Payment Model along with upcoming changes effective October 1, 2022.  The session will share industry best practices along with documentation and coding tips that can positively impact Medicare reimbursement.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the 5 case-mix adjusted components of PDPM
  • Define how the case-mix group for each component is calculated
  • Understand how the Health Insurance Prospective Payment System (HIPPS) codes are derived for each component
  • Understand the FY 2023 updates from the SNF PPS Final Rule and how those impact their operations
