LeadingAge Kansas staff met last week with staff from Aetna Better Health of Kansas, the newest MCO in KanCare.

Scott Brunner, Interim CEO for Aetna, shared the tight timeline that Aetna will work through to staff their organization in Kansas. They will be based in Overland Park, where Aetna already has offices. They will also have a satellite office in Wichita.

Current Amerigroup members will receive letters beginning the first week in September telling them they will be directly assigned to Aetna beginning January 1, 2019, with the opportunity to switch to another MCO if they prefer.

At this time, Amerigroup has appealed the State’s decision to remove them as an MCO. Therefore, Aetna contracts are on hold until the appeal is resolved. Providers should continue to work on their contracts as if they are proceeding with Aetna unless they hear otherwise.

Providers that have questions about how to proceed should contact Aetna at ProviderExperience_KS@aetna.com or call 1-855-221-5656.
