CMS released the final rule updating the Medicare skilled nursing facility prospective payment system (PPS). This includes the final payment update based on current data as well as the wage index. In addition, updates are made to PDPM processes including a sub-regulatory process for ICD-10 updates which we asked for in our public comment letter. Proposals were also finalized updating the definition of group therapy, as well as changes to the Value-Based Purchasing Program and Quality Reporting Program. LeadingAge National is working on an analysis for what the final rule means for members, to be available in the near future. In the meantime, here is the link to the federal register posting.
