State Candidates RSVP to Fall Conference Candidate Luncheon

Several candidates have already RSVP’d to attend the Candidate Luncheon at Fall Conference in Salina on Wednesday, September 18. This is a great opportunity to meet with candidates, find out who has a background or connection to healthcare and aging services, and discuss the successful things you accomplish in your buildings as well as the issues they could help solve. Bob Bethell KanCare Oversight Committee – Watch on YouTube 

The legislative KanCare Oversight Committee met on Monday and Tuesday this week. You can hear the LeadingAge Kansas and Mercy Hospital testimony first thing on Monday’s stream on YouTube. Shoutout to Aaron Herbel with Mercy Hospital for formulating the issue so well the motion to add a legislative bill to address this issue was recommended by Senator Fagg! Tuesday was full of debates about the KanCare contract changes. The next KanCare Oversight meetings will take place in October. 

Kansas State Plan on Aging Listening Tour 

The current Kansas State Plan on Aging is set to expire in 2024. Make sure to provide your input on what should be a focus in the updated State Plan on Aging by attending one of the in-person or virtual listening sessions or completing the online survey. Her professional focus has always been service to others through advocacy. Kylee has a master’s degree in social work from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a bachelor's degree in criminology with a minor in Conflict Analysis and Trauma studies from Kansas State University, and a certificate in Grant Proposal Writing from Fort Hays State University. With a professional background in law enforcement and child welfare, and a successful 2023 legislative practicum with the Children's Alliance of Kansas, she brings rich professional experience to her role as Director of Government Affairs, and a front-line perspective on the needs of health and human services providers in our state.
