KDHE and KDADS have been having meetings during the first quarter of 2018 with associations and advocacy groups regarding KanCare issues. These meetings provide an opportunity for the agencies to update the groups on work the State is currently undertaking, hear about systemic problems, and track progress on those issues. There were 8 small group meetings held during the first quarter covering issues such as hospital issues, dental care, developmental disabilities, HCBS, Electronic Visit Verification program, pharmacy issues, and anti-psychotics.
On March 27th, the agencies had a larger general meeting of stakeholders from the associations and advocacy groups to update all on the meetings that had been held and the action items that were being worked. These large group meetings will be held quarterly. Both KDADS Secretary Keck and KDHE Secretary Andersen were in attendance, along with other agency staff, and emphasized their commitment to improving KanCare, listening to stakeholder concerns, and transparency.
