Lobbyists and legislators have been eagerly waiting for Governor Kelly to announce the dates of the special session for the 2024 legislative year, and it was finally announced this morning. The special session will convene on Tuesday, June 18.

During regular session, the Governor vowed to bring back legislators if they did not back a comprehensive tax package she was in support of. The Governor vetoed three packages sent to her by the legislative body throughout this session. The special session will be separate from the regular session and no carry over bills, veto overrides, or procedural or organizational rules will remain. LeadingAge Kansas will continue to monitor and share updates as they become available.
