LeadingAge Kansas and Kansas Healthcare Association met with KDHE Secretary Stanek last week to discuss the announcement of the MCO contracts and the implications it will have for providers and consumers. Secretary Stanek assured the associations their consultant is ready to begin the readiness review process to ensure there is as clean of a transition for providers and consumers come January 1, 2025.

As a reminder, United Healthcare and Sunflower retained their MCO status while Aetna lost theirs. The newcomer, Healthy Blue, will be in effect at the start of the new year. There is a 30-day appeal process from the time the contracts were announced, meaning Aetna still has a small window to file an appeal.
