On June 5th, CMS began conducting Medicare claims audits through the Medicare Administrative Contractors on all SNFs. CMS announced that they would be auditing 5 claims from every SNF to ensure proper billing practices, but little else was known. In this week’s MLN Connects newsletter, CMS shared additional information. MACs will audit 5 claims for services furnished after October 1, 2019 (excluding claims containing COVID diagnoses) from every Medicare-billing SNF in the country to determine accuracy. Education will be provided for identified inaccuracies and review results letters will be provided for any denied claims. More information is available on the CMS landing page and in this MLN Matters article
