On Thursday, May 18th, 8:30 AM CT, the Senate Special Aging Committee will hold a hearing titled, “Residents at Risk: The Strained Nursing Home Inspection System and the Need to Improve Oversight, Transparency, and Accountability.” Witnesses include: Erin Bliss, assistant HHS inspector general for evaluation and inspections; Shelly Williamson, president of the Board of Directors for the Association of Health Facility Survey Agencies and administrator for the section for long term care regulation with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Jefferson City, Missouri.; Leah McMahon, director of the Colorado State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, Denver, Colorado; and Susan Lu, professor of management in Purdue University’s Mitchell E.
