On Thursday, September 8th, at 1:00 PM CT, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Director Rohit Chopra will host a virtual discussion with advocates, service providers, community leaders, and members of the public to explore challenges around nursing home debt collection practices. Director Chopra will moderate a panel discussion with representatives of consumer advocacy organizations and others, including LeadingAge. Following the panel discussion, members of the public will be invited to share comments. According to the announcement, CFPB seeks to learn about consumer advocates’ and individuals’ experiences with nursing home debt and debt collection practices, to understand the impact they can have on the financial wellbeing of caregivers, their families, and friends.
