During the past 15 or more months, Governor Kelly put in place several executive orders that extended the license expiration date for the nurses who had licenses expiring March 2020 through July 2021. The final expiration date for these licenses is August 28, 2021.There is no extension past this date. Word from the Board of Nursing is that there are thousands of Kansas nurses that have not renewed and have that license expiration date. If theses nurses do not renew by that date, their license will be lapsed on August 29 and be unable to work until their license is reinstated. They are required to have completed 30 hours of approved continuing nursing education at the time of their renewal.
LeadingAge Kansas urges members that employ nurses to follow up with them nurse to make sure they renew. Here’s the renewal application.
