The LeadingAge Kansas Workforce Commission kicked off on Monday to begin work on our workforce challenges. The vision of the Commission is To create competent, abundant, stable and diverse workforce to serve aging Kansans. Participants include members, and representatives from the Board of Nursing, Washburn University School of Nursing, the Kansas Board of Regents, the Kansas Department of Commerce, the State LTC Ombudsman and Dr. Robyn Stone from LeadingAge National. The primary focus of the first Commission meeting was to set the stage for the reason for the commission and share some of the national and state perspective of the characteristics and influences on the LTC workforce. We discussed who should be a part of the conversation that was not there, as well as the importance of having the direct caregiver voice represented along the way. Many thanks to the LeadingAge Kansas Board of Directors for providing leadership for the Commission and for our critical priority of workforce growth and development.
