OSHA revised its Hazard Communication Standard to align with the United Nation’s Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). The new labeling elements, pictograms, and a standardized format for Safety Data Sheets (SDS – formerly known as MSDS sheets) need to be in place by June 1, 2016. The new label elements and SDS requirements will improve worker understanding of the hazards associated with chemicals in their workplace. Learn more about the timeline for implementation.
