The Committee on the Quality of Care in Nursing Homes is an important ad hoc committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will conduct an in-depth examination of how our nation delivers, finances, regulates, and measures the quality of nursing home care. More Information here. The committee will develop a set of findings and recommendations to delineate a framework and general principles for improving the quality of care in today’s nursing homes, delivering high quality care in a consistent manner, and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and staff in nursing homes. The last time such an undertaking was pursued was in 1986, when the Institute of Medicine released the report Improving the Quality of Care in Nursing Homes. The current project is anticipated to last 15-18 months.
