LeadingAge Kansas staff, along with a small group of health-related association heads, met with new 2nd District Congressman Steve Watkins last week. Our time was spent getting acquainted with the Congressman and his philosophy of policy-making, and sharing the pressing issues that face our members, including federal regulatory overreach, the workforce crisis and the need for increased federal responsiveness to rural realities. Our staff particularly asked Congressman Watkins to co-sponsor HR 1265 to fix the CNA training lock out problem.
