Chemical Dependency Issues in LTC
This session will provide the participants with knowledge and guidance for long term care staff members who care for residents with a history of or current substance abuse. As an industry we know that substance use and abuse is an issue, but we rarely discuss it or assess it in post-acute care. In the future we anticipate even more chemical dependency issues in long term care residents, so it is important we identify them and put interventions in place to help the affected residents.

Dealing with Difficult Behaviors
This session will provide the participants with guidance on practical ways to de-escalate behaviors in the long-term care setting. Learning to identify the unmet needs of our residents can be very helpful in reducing or avoiding difficult situations we face with our residents who struggle with behaviors.
