As you begin to fill out this year’s Cost Report, you will notice a major change. A new Schedule “K” has been added to gauge employee vacancies. LeadingAge Kansas lobbied for the addition because there is no current mechanism to gauge vacancy rates in nursing homes in Kansas. This information is important to build the case of the current long-term care workforce crisis. This information can be used in addition to turnover rates for advocacy purposes as well as identifying how many individuals we need in the pipeline to fill these jobs. Post-secondary educators and institutions can also use this when setting targets for recruitment into programs that serve these providers. In order to solve the crisis, we have to quantify it.
This new schedule is voluntary; however, we encourage all member nursing homes to complete it. The more data we have to frame the workforce crisis, the better able we will be to help shape public policy on this issue.
Here are the instructions for Schedule K to prepare this information for the report. You will receive these instructions soon from KDADS as well.
Thanks in advance for helping us tell YOUR story.
