Colonial Village, LeadingAge Kansas’ newest subscriber and a senior living community in Overland Park, KS, is preparing for its grand opening event on January 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Colonial Village will provide live music, free food, tours, and giveaways.
Named after Colonial Presbyterian Church (which owned the land where Colonial Village now sits) Colonial Village was developed by Scenic Development and is managed by Pivotal Health Care (this is the seventh project between Scenic Development and Pivotal Health Care).
Colonial Village opened its doors on November 1, 2018 and has four levels of living: independent living, assisted living, short-term rehab, and long-term care. There are 56 apartments in independent living, 34 apartments in assisted living, and 40 beds in healthcare.
Brian Volkens, son of a Colonial Village resident, said, “My Mom had lived independently and alone for so many, many years and she was very reluctant to move and skeptical to ‘have’ to eat in a dining room with a bunch of strangers. Strangers no more! Her favorite time of the day is going to the dining room and sharing conversation and laughs with her many new friends.
My mom said it best in her recent Christmas letter: ‘I have moved into a brand new, gorgeous apartment in an independent living facility named Colonial Village. No cooking. No cleaning. No steps. I love, love, love it!’ She is so much happier and her spirit has blossomed since being in her new Colonial Village home.”
