KANSAS UPDATES

Weekly Associations/Agency Meeting Update. LeadingAge Kansas, KHCA and KACE have a call with KDADS officials every Tuesday. This Tuesday we were told that KDADS is in charge of developing the Kansas plan to implement COVID-19 testing of all nursing home residents and staff. No details were shared other than it will likely be done in phases around the state. We urged that the state pay for such testing if it to occur, and that the least invasive options be used for residents. Note: Our stance has been that providers need access to testing for staff and residents. However, required COVID-19 testing of residents and staff in nursing homes is very likely to happen in Kansas, as it has in most other states due to an earlier recommendation by VP Pence to states, and the fact that testing is a now a requirement in the federal plan to re-open nursing homes.
